Fishing areas

Morocco and Mauritania zone.

Coastal waters of the North-West Africa (Central-East Atlantic) possess high biological productivity and represent the traditional region of international fishery. Pelagic fishing is based on stocks of many types of fish – sardines, European and North-African scad, eastern mackerel, round and flat sardinellas. The most important populations of these fishes for fishing make their seasonal migrations along the West-African shelf, moving between the zones of several coastal countries. Thus, these stocks are of trans-seasonal type and it is more reasonable to carry out the management of stocks and organization of fishing with that taken into account.
